Late Today

Due to my bad cold that I have had since Gally. 😦

I think I got more ribbons than ever before (about 9) because of cosplaying Sylvester’s 7th Doctor on Saturday.

I am not very aggressive. Hell, I didn’t even get one from the Fan Show even though I ran into them twice during the convention. 😦

Doctor Who Comic Book Day 2016

This past weekend was the Gallifrey convention in Los Angeles, so there was a lot of Doctor Who stuff going on. But if you missed it, and a lot did because the thing sold out in minutes… Titan Comics has announced their third annual Doctor Who Comics Day on July 9th, 2016.

dw_comics_day_504x504_9-JULY-2016.jpg.size-504

The day is described as set to be even bigger with new comics and collections, signings and events across the globe. Last years event tied in with a five-part weekly Doctor Who comics cross-over series by Paul Cornell and Neil Edwards, and according to the publisher saw comic readers get the chance to celebrate Doctor Who Comics Day at over 2900 locations including comic shops, bookstores, retail chains and libraries.

“We’ve got some great things planned for this year’s 2016 Doctor Who Comics Day event,” said Ricky Claydon, Direct Sales & Marketing Manager at Titan Comics. “As well as working closely with stores and libraries to develop events for the day, for 2016 we’ll be supplying Doctor Who fans with event kits to hold their own reading group events.”

More details about this year’s 2016 Doctor Who Comics day event will be released soon. Any stores ore libraries wanting to participate should go to Titan-Comics.com for an event kit.

As a fan of both Doctor Who and comic books, I thing any event that might bring new readers into shops is an amazing one.

More Gally

Some photos. The harsh light on stage washed out a lot of them.

Still Ill

I am still. I am still so out of it I forgot my dinner meeting with my Brother last night because I was so interested in going to bed because I had laid on the couch all afternoon (it was my short day at work).

And thus I still have not processed the pictures and videos from this years Gally.

But I see The Fan Show has their Gally Episode out. I saw them several times. I even said “hi” to them “love the show” in full Sylvester McCoy 7th Doctor garp.

Nothing. Oh well.

The Afterglow

Is a miserable bitch of a cold. That’s what it is… 😦

All my other pics are downstairs on a thumb drive.

So I haven’t got anything for today beside my miserable, wanna stay in bed, cold.

Even though putting things on You Tube is verboten, someone always does…Not me, mind you…

Gally Day 3- 2016

The last day 😦 of the con went much smoother with me just largely camped out in the main room for 6 hours.

I was able to get my Julian Glover photo back. Hurrah! 🙂

My old camera with its failing batteries only took it out on me for the first few minutes of Si John Hurt II then it was good the rest of the day.

The best weekend of the year is now over.

Oh well, there’s always 2017.

2016: Sir John Hurt! Michelle Gomez! Peter Davison & Colin Baker! Samuel Anderson! Ingrid Oliver! Over 70 amazing guests. 3,974 attendees, guests and staff. $11,347 raised during our marathon charity auction for the LUMOS Foundation. Parties, panels, meet-ups, podcasts, new friends – and so much more. We’d like to thank all of you who attended this year for making 2016 a convention to remember.

And now… prepare yourself… the zombie invasion is about to begin! We cordially (and very spookily) invite you to join us for GALLIFREY ONE: 28 YEARS LATER, 17-19 February 2017 at the Marriott Los Angeles Airport Hotel… the twenty-eighth incarnation of the world’s greatest annual Doctor Who family reunion. Tickets go on sale in mid-April (time and date to be announced soon, so watch our website and social media for details), with hotel reservations open in early May. The countdown resets, and begins once again…

Be there or be left out.

I will be posting pictures and stuff this week as they get processed.

So Stay Tuned.

STAY HYDRATED! DRINK WATER! 🙂

Gally Day 2 – 2016

Well, yesterday started off like the day before. I was in line for 2 hours to get the autograph of Sir John Hurt. I also got Ingrid Oliver, Claire Higgins (Ohica) while waiting in line.

Then I get his autograph and go and get Julian Glover’s. Everything seems to be going well.

I go to the main room to start taping. Yeah, well…

2 of my hour batteries (they are supposed to be longer but age has not been kind to them which is why this was my backup camera to begin with) decided that 1 hour meant 5 minutes!!

So I struggled all day with the batteries. Eventually I was unable to tape most of the Masquerade. Got most of “Just a Minute” (which turned into the How Nice is Ian McNeice to me because he was blowing the points on purpose for comedic effect) and the end of the Masquerade.

Just before that, at a private meet-and-greet for Samuel Anderson (that was rescheduled from the previous night because he was unable to be there until Saturday night) an unknown person asked me if I’d lost a Julian Glover autographed photo. I said I was not aware of it and would check later.

It was missing 😦

So I have to go today to Lost & Found. Distressing.

The “Adult” Match Game was bust (literally and figuratively) so I left.

Sir John does not disappoint.

Getting Ingrid Oliver and Michelle Gomez on the same panel is like wildfire in a bottle.

Colin Baker and Peter Davison had fun with each other and the audience at their unmoderated panel that was interrupted because a 5-year old (as it turned out) thought it would be ever so hilarious to pull the FIRE ALARM during this panel.

So another crazy day at Gally.

Gally Day 1 – 2016

Well, yesterday got off to rocky start.

I forgot my watch. But I still have my cell for a clock.

Then at 30,000 I remembered I packed the batteries for my Canon Camera, but NOT the camera itself! 😦

Then I get to LAX and the Shuttle is grossly late. It took me nearly 40 minutes to get to the Hotel. I could have walked that.

Then my room wasn’t ready so I’m packing light as I get to the Convention.

Then like all things Doctor Who, things got better.

I got all 4 of my Photo ops done yesterday. So today I have to chase down the autographs to go with them.

3 of them were the very first thing I did (that’s scheduling for you) so I missed Opening Ceremonies for the first, probably ever in the 22 of the 27 Gally’s I have attended.

I enjoyed panels from Colin Baker, Nicola Bryant, Neve MacIntosh, Michelle Gomez, and Ingrid Oliver.

Then there was a reception (I paid for) with Michelle Gomez, Jamie Mathieson, Jami Reid-Quarrell, Matthew Doman, & Richard Dinnick. I got invited back for Samuel Anderson tonight as he was delayed getting to the convention by work.

I tried to watch the Live Commentary of “Face The Raven” with writer Sarah Pollard but my long caught up with me and I slept through the vast majority of it.

Went back to my hotel room and went to bed.

Gally is always good for me.

Time to be The Seventh Doctor for the day…

Lego Update Swallowed Up

Apparently, without my knowledge WordPress ate my Blog yesterday which was all about my defeat of the prime level of the game so I could get regenerations of the Doctor now in the new level of the game.

Capaldi Lego Tardis 2

So you can have The Twelfth Doctor in Black & White in Hartnell’s TARDIS…SQUEE!!

And tomorrow I leave for Gally. SQUEE!

🙂

And this is SO VERY London…

NEW research has revealed that Doctor Who is commuters’ favourite TV show to watch on the way to work – with 8:30am seemingly the new primetime slot.

Research carried out for O2 after the launch of BBC Store finds that as many as one in three workers watch TV on their public transport journey to their desks.

With half of Brits now thought to be watching on-demand TV more than live broadcasts, it seems the early morning trek is a golden opportunity to catch-up on favourite shows.

Doctor Who topped the list of 2,000 respondents to be named the most popular BBC show to watch on-the-go, with The Office, Planet Earth, Only Fools and Horses and Little Britain completing the top five.

I’m Alan Partridge and The League Of Gentlemen are also proving popular, alongside dramas Orphan Black, Poldark and Call The Midwife.
