More Genius in the Midst

I was watching my new DVD of The Terror of The Zygons and it got me to thinking.

James Acheson (born 1946) is a British costume designer.

Acheson worked on Doctor Who in the 1970s. Most specifically because I was watching the featurettes, The Zygons, in this case.

The “Scottish” variant to the 4th Doctors Hat and scarf.

He also the originator of the 4th Doctor’s scarf, though he never intended for it to be 17 ft long!

He gave some wool to a woman, Begonia Pope, and she used all of it.

Mutt insects  (“The Mutants”)
Pletrac the Interminoran (“Carnival of Monsters”)
Omega (“The Three Doctors”)
Linx the Sontaran  (Time Warrior”)
Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor
The Robot (in “Robot”)
The Zygons
The Masque of Mandragora
Time Lords (“Deadly Assassin”)

He has won three Academy Awards for Best Costume Design: The Last Emperor (1987), Dangerous Liaisons (1988) and Restoration (1995).

His Most recent work was “The Man of Steel”.

So, like Ridley Scott and Douglas Adams, a Genius in the midst of this little “children’s” TV Show.
