LEGO my Daleks

Last Sunday I got to see a preview of “The Lego Batman Movie”.

Absolutely Hilarious. Go See it. I mean they made in-jokes about Batman going all the way back to the 1940’s movie serials and his origin story that I’m sure sailed blissfully over all the the little kiddies heads but had knowing adults laughing.

But the best bit for us, the Doctor Who fan, were the references and the appearance of evil “British Robots”  (apparently they couldn’t afford the Terry Nation Estate).

Daleks in the LEGO Batman Movie

This weekend the latest LEGO movie hits cinemas across the world – and guess who’s exterminating bricks on the big screen?

Yup, the Daleks are back!

The LEGO Batman Movie features Skaro’s finest in numerous scenes from the movie which also features villains such as Voldemort from the Harry Potter series, Sauron (or his eye at least) from The Lord of the Rings, Gremlins from the Gremlins films, King Kong, and many more.

Whovians will be delighted to know that the iconic “Exterminate!” is heard during the movie.

The Daleks – referred to only as “British Robots – ask a geek”- I howled at that line.

Fact fans may note that this is not the first time the Daleks have appeared on the big screen.

Whovians will have enjoyed them in the 50th Anniversary Special, The Day of the Doctor and also their brief appearance in the 2003 film, Looney Tunes: Back In Action.

Of course, Skaro’s finest have featured in their very own movies – Dr. Who and the Daleks (1965) and its sequel Daleks – Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D. (1966) starring Peter Cushing as the Earth scientist/inventor, “Dr. Who”.

The LEGO Batman Movie hits cinemas around the world from Feb 10, 2017.

The Lego Dimension :Lego  Batman Story Pack is also out on Feb 10th.

I will see how much the Daleks, sorry, British Robots, are in it.
