Downtime

Back in “The Wilderness Years” (1990-2005) fans got together every so often to do a sci-fi tale that was “wink-wink” Doctor Who like the Bill Baggs of the fan world or “Stranger” videos.
But there was one, that was effectively Doctor Who, Just no Doctor and no “Doctor Who” in the title.
A little thing called “Downtime” starring Victoria Waterfield as a grown up Victoria Waterfield, Nicholas Courtney as The Brigadier, and Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith.
In those dark days in the wilderness this was closest we’d come in some time and the closest we’d come until the next year when the TV Movie would occur. Then after that  Big Finish starts in 1998, other fan videos come about from Reeltime Pictures, 1999’s “Curse of The Fatal Death” and the boulder of change which had gathered much moss was rolling again, very slowly.
It began here…in fandom’s own downtime.
